• Firm: Elite AmLaw

The relationship began with a simple outreach and an initial call. At that point, she was returning from maternity leave and not ready to enter a process. We stayed in touch, knowing the timing would eventually shift.

When we reconnected, she explained that her plan was to relocate to Arizona. That changed everything. Our original approach was built around the Bay Area, where strong capital markets experience and training from a top tier platform would have produced multiple offers. Arizona, by comparison, is a smaller legal market with fewer capital markets teams operating at scale. To maintain her trajectory, we approached firms in the bay area to see if we could reach a reloction agreement.

Many firms expressed interest, but most hesitated once relocation became part of the conversation. Staying in California would have been the easy route — larger teams, clearer paths, faster decisions — but it wasn’t the direction she wanted. We focused on finding a firm that could support her goals.

One did. - a top 20 Am Law firm. After multiple rounds, they made an offer and provided what mattered most: a recognised national brand, meaningful capital markets exposure, and a direct pathway to Phoenix. She accepted.

A smaller market doesn’t mean compromise when the platform fits.
