Important Update for Lawyers Considering H-1B Visas

Rebecca Adlington
September 20, 2025

On September 19, 2025, the President issued a proclamation that may temporarily restrict the entry of H-1B workers outside the U.S. unless their sponsoring employer pays a $100,000 government fee per individual, or a national interest waiver is granted. This policy is set to take effect on September 21, 2025, and is expected to remain in place for 12 months, unless extended.

At present, many logistical and enforcement details remain unclear. Given these uncertainties, we strongly encourage all professionals considering an H-1B visa to stay in close contact with their Sonder recruiter. Your recruiter will liaise directly with any law firm you are considering and keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Our priority is to ensure you remain informed and supported.
